NewSkin OITB Online Platform

This deliverable, D7.1, describes the NewSkin Open Innovation Test Bed (OITB) Online Platform. This will be the result of Task 7.1 of the project: OITB and Innovation Eco-system Platform and Knowledge Base.

This task aims to create an online tool in the form of an e-platform that brings together a critical mass of actors, knowledge, and know-how and will leverage this to amplify the impacts of NewSkin at a regional, EU and international level while raising awareness of the project results.

The e-platform will be the main reference channel to access the NewSkin OITB and all its related services and ecosystem partners. This task will include the design and implementation of a project e-platform under the coordination of ALPHA-RLH, with the support of ECCS and AquaTT project partners.

The platform will be hosted and will make the SEP accessible through it. The on-line platform will be managed by ALPHA-RLH. The development of the platform will be delivered by ALPHA-RLH to ensure coherence between the project website and the e-platform, with notably an interconnection system to avoid duplication.

The platform will be designed as an interactive online tool supporting the promotion of all project results and services and updated regularly to ensure future developments are included.

The online platform will facilitate interactions with potential users and customers, such as industry bodies, researchers, practitioners and standardisation bodies through a simple access to services, a marketplace and information of the services provided by project partners.

All documents relevant for the NewSkin OITB project will be directly accessible online including the open calls and services provision requests. The material will be gathered by tags and key words, in order to simplify the access to information for the stakeholders and updated on a regular basis.

The e-platform will support networking/hub activities at the European level. The e-platform will have two main aspects, the public site and the private (project intranet site). In order to request services and access to NewSkin specific contents registration on the platform will be compulsory.

Material for Visual Identity

Deliverable 8.1 (Material for Visual Identity: Logo, visual identity charter, document templates, social media accounts) aims to facilitate NewSkin’s communication and dissemination actions. It does so through the development of a portfolio of communication materials for the promotion of the project to a large audience over the course of the project.

NewSkin’s portfolio of communication material has been developed by the team to:
• facilitate the promotion of NewSkin and disseminate the project’s objectives and findings to a variety of stakeholders and possible end-users;
• help the NewSkin team to communicate the project and its results in a consistent and efficient manner;
• engage research and industry communities across multiple sectors, including relevant
stakeholders and end-users, project consortia and policy-makers;
• raise the visibility of NewSkin to the broader public and related initiatives.

The first step in creating the NewSkin portfolio of communication materials started with developing strong branding for the project. Strong branding is a key element of the recognition and perception of the project and its visual identity.

The Work Package (WP) 8 leader developed the portfolio of communication material for the NewSkin project based on this branding, in consultation with the consortium partners. The portfolio includes the project logo, the accompanying brand guidelines, the poster, PowerPoint, and deliverable templates, and the NewSkin Twitter account (https://twitter.com/NewSkinOITB). These tools will be used together with the project website for promoting the project technologies, resources and services, to stimulate interaction with the resulting NewSkin Open Innovation Test Bed (OITB) with the widest possible audience, including all possible collaborators and end-users from the European Innovation Ecosystem.

All material and tools are maintained and updated on an ongoing basis as and when required. Further resources will be developed over the course of the project in line with the project’s Description of Action (DoA) as well as in response to project results and stakeholder requirements.

This deliverable report presents an overview of all communication tools that have been developed for NewSkin promotion since the launch of the project in April 2020.

Project Website

Key Enabling Technologies (KET´s) deployment will be the driving force for a significant part of the goods and services that will be available in the market in the next decade. Amongst KET´s, nano-enabled surfaces and membranes must be highlighted due to their huge potential to offer material solutions to address Sustainable Development Goals resulting in positive and sound impacts for the society and key industrial sectors.

The NewSkin Project aims to create an Open Innovation Test Bed (OITB) to provide the Innovation Ecosystem (IE) with the necessary technologies, resources and services to uptake a set of game changing, efficient and cost- effective innovative processes to manufacture nano-enabled industrial and consumer products as well as the necessary testing capabilities to demonstrate nano-enhanced goods features.

One of the NewSkin key factor of success is the Innovation Ecosystem outreach and the creation of communication channels with the Innovation Ecosystem, so that the value proposition is made visible and available to the Innovation Ecosystem.

The NewSkin project definition allocated two different WP, Work Package 7 and 8 to the creation of channels and connection with the Innovation Ecosystem. The NewSkin website is the first public deliverable that will summarize the actions and timing of the project as well as providing top-level information on the Consortium partners, facilities and value proposition.

The website is one of the three different on-line platforms that NewSkin consortium tool will use.

Consortium documents will be shared internally through the coordinator website collaborative area (private area) https://www.steelconstruct.com/collaborative-area/. This way, all the documents and information associated to the NewSkin Grant Agreement execution will be managed from the coordinator resources even after the creation of the new legal entity for the Single Entry Point that will finally oversee the NewSkin OITB operation.

The on-line platform will host the Innovation Ecosystem data-base and will provide access to OITB SEP that will manage and negotiate the access to the NewSkin value proposition and catalogue of services. Moreover the on-line platform will be the main NewSkin communication channel that will provide access to documents, webminars, publictions, chats and forums amongst others.

The website will be connected to the on-line platform through a link, once this is available. This website will be a living element that will be updated and upgraded during the project execution, once more detailed information on the facilities, services, demo-cases and other aspects is available.
